Robert E. Wall Oldest known Eagle Scout September 28, 2010 Surrounded by his family, Robert E. "Bob" Wall, 86, formerly of Fremont, passed peacefully Tuesday. He was born on Hazard Street in Solvay and was a 1942 graduate of Solvay High School. He proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout with the bronze palms. He became the Scoutmaster of Troop #72 in Solvay and Troop #144 in Fremont. During WWII, he served as a Navy Corpsman attached to the 2nd Marine division on Okinawa. Upon return, he was employed by Continental Can, Pass & Seymour, and Niagara Mohawk, where he retired with over 30 years of service. He was a State Fair 4-H club cafeteria supervisor for many years. A parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church, he also served as secretary of the men's bowling league and as an actor and producer with the Blessed Sacrament players guild shows. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Rotary Club and enjoyed playing the piano, harmonica and other various percussion instruments. He frequently served as foreman of many grand juries and was also a published poet. He loved traveling, dancing, and card playing. Bob was predeceased by his dear wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Simonetta) Wall; grandson, Robin O. Wall; four sisters and one brother. He is survived by his children, David A. (Martha) Wall of Warners, Robert F. (Catherine) Wall of Pennellville, Susan E. (Jeff) Gordon of Syracuse, Brian D. (Sandy of East Syracuse) Wall of Fayetteville, and Jeffrey J. (Juliet) Wall of Fayetteville; one sister, Jean Avery of Solvay; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 1 at 10 a.m. at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, burial to follow in White Chapel Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, 3111 James Street.
