JAMES, ROBERT E., 79, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday at Jewish Hospital. He was raised in Henry County, KY, and later moved with his family to Louisville. He retired from General Electric after 33 years of service in the Quality Control Division, was past president of the International Union of Electrical Workers Local 761, associate commissioner of the Unemployment Board, a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Midlane Park Reformed Presbyterian Church. Mr. James is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Lowe James; three daughters, Judith Goolsby and Monica Guenin, both of Louisville, and Kimberly Bonitz of Ft. Myers, FL; a son, Robert "Alan" James of Louisville; and four grandsons, Matt Goolsby, Ryan and Justin Guenin and Mitchell Bonitz. Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2004, at Midlane Park Reformed Presbyterian Church, 6209 Six Mile Lane. Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, was in charge of the arrangements. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society or his church.
