Robert E. "Rounder" James, 86, of 107 Walton Drive, widower of Julia Ford James, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Hospice House of the Upstate. Born in Williamston, he was a son of the late Lowell and Molly Gunter James. He was retired from Mount Vernon Mills in Williamston, attended the Williamston Church of God of Prophecy and was an Army World War II veteran. Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Maryland and Lee Farmer, of Williamston; a daughter, Betty J. Jordan, of Williamston; sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Faye James of Clinton and Don and Dianne James of Honea Path; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. He was the last member of his immediate family. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer, conducted by the Rev. Frances Cobb. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Farmer, Robbie Jordan, Eddie James, Jerry Marcus, Richard Jackson and Wes Grindstaff. The family is at the home of Maryland Farmer, 107 Walton Drive, Williamston, and will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice House of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
