->Robert Cleaveland KendallBEEKMAN - Robert Cleaveland Kendall, 86, a resident of the Town of Beekman, died on Saturday, August 27, 2011. Born April 27, 1925 in Huron, South Dakota, he was the son of the late Leon B. Kendall and Florence Lamphere Kendall. From 1943 to 1945, Bob served in the United States Navy V-12 Unit, attending DePauw University and the Chicago University School of Medicine. From 1950 to 1952, he served in the United States Army in Korea and received an honorable release from active duty as a Corporal. Bob graduated from Dartmouth College in 1949 with a B.A. degree in Physics. He then had a 27-year career at IBM, specializing in management of computer programming productivity in the later years of his career. Bob also served as an adjunct professor in computer management at Columbia University Graduate School of Business. On December 18, 1954 in Oak Park, Illinois, Bob married Gay Wilson who survives at home. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Bradford Kendall and his wife, Barbara, of Dover Plains and Christopher Kendall and his wife, Laura Battle of Rhinebeck, and his daughter, Allison Rullman and her husband, Loren, of Ann Arbor Michigan, and three grandchildren, Travis and Stephen Kendall and Cailey Rullman. An avid outdoorsman who was passionate about conservation, Bob was a dedicated volunteer for many years at the Hudson Valley Raptor Center and a member of the Ralph T. Waterman Bird Club. In 1962, Bob joined the Beekman Fire Company and served as a fire company president. In 1977, he became a life member of the Beekman Fire Company and in 2003 he received the Company's Fire Police of the Year Award. Bob was a past member and chairman of the Town of Beekman Planning Board. Up until the last days of his life, Bob was always learning, whether about new computer applications, conservation issues or the interests and careers of his children, his son-and daughters-in-law and grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at the Clove Valley Cemetery in Beekman, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ralph T.
