Avis de décès de Reverend-James Jordan


Reverend James Jordan, a resident of Oak Landing, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at Oak Landing Assisted Living Facility. He was 84. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Twelfth Street Baptist Church. The Rev. Bob Causey will officiate and burial will follow in Forrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Collier-Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Service tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church Friday from 10:30 a.m. until time for service.Reverend Jordan was born Aug. 6, 1923, in Gadsden, Alabama. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having active duty during World War II in the European Theatre. Upon an honorable discharge from the army, he worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company until he was called into the ministry in 1955. He graduated from Howard College (Sanford University). He served for over 50 years as a dedicated Baptist pastor in many churches throughout north and central Alabama. He was involved in many programs and activities in his churches and communities. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and pastor.Reverend Jordan is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Ettie Mae Lewis Jordan and a brother, Bill Jordan. He is survived by four sons, Larry Jordan of Norcross, Ga., Ken Jordan of Northport, Mark Jordan and wife Ann of Dothan, and Bob Jordan and wife Kathy of Ellicott City, Md.; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Rosser and husband Scotty, Jamie Evans and husband Lee, Jennifer Jordan, Jana Jordan, Jackson Jordan, Madeline Smith, Abbey Smith, and Samuel Jordan; six great-grandchildren, Kayla Rosser, Gabe Rosser, Landon Rosser, Houston Evans, Jordan Evans and Madeline Evans; three nieces, Susan Jackson, Kathy Bellinger and Kelly Jordan; and several brothers and sisters-in-law and their families (Lewis Family).Pallbearers will be friends from Duck Springs Baptist Church and Twelfth Street Baptist Church.Memorials can be made to Twelfth Street Baptist Church, Duck Springs Baptist Church or The American Cancer Society.
