HOLDEN -- Robert H. James, 82, of 456 Wachusett St., died Tuesday, May 25, in Worcester Medical Center, St. Vincent’s Hospital. He was born in Leominster, the son of William H. and Helen (Howe) James. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. James operated the former Leominster Enterprise and later worked for the Clinton Item as head pressman. In his retirement, he worked at the Landmark Newspaper in Holden. He was a member of the Wilder Lodge of Masons in Leominster, a 32nd-degree Mason including the Scottish Rite Bodies of Worcester and the Boston Consistory. He was also a member of Aleppo Shrine in Wilmington. He enjoyed polka dancing and working around the yard. Mr. James leaves his wife of 24 years, Eva E. (Pepin) James; six daughters, Alison H. Bartczak and her husband, Frank J. Bartczak, of Spencer, Lisa E. Malatos and her husband, David D. Malatos, of Leominster, Cynthia Robbins and her husband, Ralph Robbins, of Bar Harbor, Maine, Betsy Hatch and her husband, Steven Hatch, of Chelsea, Maine, Debra Atwood and her husband, Robert Atwood, of Machias, Maine, and Holly Mooers and her husband, Bruce Mooers, of Gardiner, Maine; two stepsons, Edward J. Sokolowski of Bourne and Andrew R. Sokolowski of Worcester; a sister, Charlotte Holbrook of Dunedin, Fla.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. JAMES -- On May 25, Robert H. James, 82, of Holden. Calling hours are tonight from 5 to 7:30 at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. The funeral service will be held at 7:30 tonight in the funeral home. Burial will be private in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Massachusetts Chapter, 29 Crafts St., Newton, MA 02160.
