PIERRE (PETER) JOSEPH GAGNE February 4th, 1944 February 10th, 2008 Peter was born and raised in North Battleford, moving to Saskatoon at the age of 32 years. He was employed several years at Saskatchewan Hospital and Riverside Special Care Home (now Battleford District Care Center). He retired from the University of Saskatchewan in 1999 at the age of 55 years. Peter's family is grieving his loss but celebrating the many wonderful years they shared his life. His wife Sheila was his partner for more than 33 years. He was proud of daughters Erin and Shona, sons-in-law Tyson Elliott and Wayne Stapleton, grandchildren Ember, Danielle and Zane and great grandchildren Charles and Mya-Lynn. Peter was the youngest of 14 children and is survived by siblings Bill, Clem, Henry, Robert and Lillian. He is also survived by extended family Janice, Vivian and Peter Dawson and close friend Glen Friesen. Peter was predeceased by his parents William and Yvonne Gagne, six siblings and his father and mother-in-law Roy and Agnes Haatvedt. Peter's philosophy was to live life to the fullest because "we're here for a good time, not a long time. " He and Sheila enjoyed their times at Roy and Aggie's place at Waskesiu Lake and purchased their own family cabin there in 1981. Peter loved driving the boat and pulling Sheila and Erin behind on tubes, skis and the infamous skip saucer. He became hooked on motorcycles when Sheila announced she was buying one and they biked constantly together for years. Peter enjoyed the family get togethers when Shona and her family came to Saskatoon. He loved visiting and just watching the grand kids. Although his mobility was restricted these last couple of years by COPD, his sense of humor was still very much in tact. The family thanks all staff who helped Peter and family at both City and Royal University hospitals. Donations to Discovery Asthma Camp Inc., c/o Lung Association of Saskatchewan (1231 8th St. E. Saskatoon, SK S7H 0S5) would be appreciated. An informal time for friends and family to share memories will take place on Thursday, February 14th at 3:00 p.m. at the Army, Navy and Air Force Vets Hall (359 1st. Ave. N). Condolences may be forwarded through www.mourningglory.ca . Arrangements in care of John Schachtel MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (978-5200).
