ALLEN, PennyPenny (King) Allen of Milford passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at her home surrounded by the love of her family. She was the wife of the late Andrew "Jack" Allen who passed away in May of 2016. "Jack-o" and "Pentelops", as they lovingly referred to each other, were very happily married for forty-five years. Penny was born March 12, 1947 in Montreal, Canada, the daughter of the late Evelyn E. (Nicholls) and Samuel W. King. She attended Sir George Williams Business School and was employed at Sun Life of Canada (where she met the love of her life) before moving to Milford with Jack in 1973. She was a happy "stay at home" Mom for many years before becoming the office Manager for Dr. Allan Short in Milford for 19 years, retiring in 2008. Penny was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church where she served as Sunday School Superintendent, a member of St. Margaret''s Women''s Guild, the Vestry and the church choir. Mrs. Allen was a volunteer for the Milford Schools and the Milford Food Pantry. She was also a member of the Parents for Music. Penny loved playing and visiting with her grandchildren more than anything in the world. She enjoyed her gambling jaunts to Foxwoods and Atlantic City with her good friends and was one of Neil Diamond''s biggest fans. She would wake up every morning to "Cracklin Rosie" on the radio. Being an adopted New Englander she of course cheered avidly for all the local Boston teams. Mrs. Allen is survived by one son, Michael and his wife Elizabeth of Somers, NY, two daughters, Linda Allen of Milford and Deborah Shields and her husband Matthew of Milford, one brother Peter King and his wife Gail of Montreal, Quebec and five adoring grandchildren: Ryan, Emma, Hayden, Liam and Grace who will miss their Nana very much. Additionally, she leaves behind her brother and sister-in-law Peter and Margaret Siemens of British Columbia, Canada, nieces and nephews, countless friends whom she loved like family and all the friends of her children who she treated as if they were her own. Penny was so grateful for all of the love and support she received from her friends and family over the last few years and particularly for the weekly visits she shared with her "best buddies" Pam, Dee and Sharon. Penny''s family is also thankful to their friend, Lorrie, who helped them care for her at home during her last months and kept everything in order just the way she wanted. "A place for everything and everything in its place," she would always say. Penny was loved by all. As the most welcoming, caring, loving woman that so many were blessed to have known, she spent her life with a smile on her face. It is common knowledge that a hug from Penny Allen was the greatest gift anyone could ever receive. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 5-8 p.m.in the BUMA SARGEANT FUNERAL HOME, 42 Congress St., Milford. Funeral services for Penny will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 9 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a Celebration of Life with Eucharist at 10 a.m. in the Trinity Episcopal Church, 17 Congress St., Milford. Interment will follow in Vernon Grove Cemetery, Vernon St. Milford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church, 17 Congress St., Milford, MA 01757 or to the Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY 11714 (lustgarten.org)www.bumafuneralhome.com
