MACKAY, Patricia RuthMay 30, 1931 – February 12, 2015Patricia (Pat) MacKay nee O'Hara passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully on February 12, 2015 in Edmonton at the age of 83. She was predeceased by her parents George and Ruth O'Hara. Pat is survived by her four children: Carol MacKay-Matak, Sandy MacKay (Miles Prodan), Callum MacKay and Laurie MacKay (Gino Furano), as well as six grandchildren: Connor, Alexandra (Alex), Cole, Morgan, Parke and Hunter. An Albertan all her life, Pat had a special affinity for the Grande Prairie area where she went to high school and made life long friends. She was an independent spirit known for her intelligence and resilience. Throughout her life, Pat loved to socialize, garden, play bridge and watch her game shows. She loved animals and felt a home wasn't really a home without a dog or cat in residence. Her children and grandchildren (and grandpets) were the recipients of unwavering love from the lady they called Mom and Amma. Her family would like to thank her brother, Bob O'Hara (Jean) and her sister, Colleen UnKauf (Jack) and their families whose love and support in Pat's later years helped to make her life much richer and happier. Pat will be forever missed and fondly remembered by those whose lives she touched. Her Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Saturday, February 28 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Southminster-Steinhauer United Church 10740-19 Avenue Edmonton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pat's name to the Edmonton Second Chance Animal Rescue Society (SCARS).
