Orville Saunders died at the Kelowna (British Columbia) General Hospital on June 25, 2007 following a struggle with ALS. He was born March 26, 1944 in Charlton and lived in Kelowna. He is survived and deeply missed by his loving wife Phyllis (nee Widdifield); sons Alfie (and Peggy) Saunders and Orville Saunders; daughters Lana (and Jeff) Ellerton, Ruby Saunders and Janet Saunders; mother Janet Saunders of Charlton; brothers Howard (and Caroline) Saunders of Dane and Gordon (and Kim) Saunders of Charlton; sisters Diane (and Earl) Schell of Merritt, B.C., Beverlee (and Rolly) Lemire of Englehart and Susan (and Gilles) Savarie of Englehart; and he will be greatly missed by his grandchildren and many other family members. He will be forever missed but he will never be forgotten. Mr. Saunders was predeceased by his father Howard Saunders; sisters Mae Saunders and Faye Mills. The family thanked the nurses and doctors at Kelowna General and Dr. Scott who were helpful and supportive during this very difficult time. A memorial service conducted by Reverend Richard White will be held at 1 p.m. on August 26 at the Charlton Legion. Contributions in memory of Mr. Saunders to St. Faith’s Anglican Church in Charlton would be appreciated by the family.
