HAMMOND Neil Edward. Born July 4th, 1931 in Vancouver, loving husband, friend and father, died peacefully, surrounded by family, Friday, September 7th, 2007. Survived by wife Ellen, daughters Tracy (David), Kimberley (Mathias), Carolyn, (Craig), stepdaughter Sue (Hanay Nassim), step son Michael, grandchildren Tracy, Patrick, Lindsay, Jaime, Robin and Dana, brother Grant (Joan), sister Jo-Anne (Keith) and niece Heather (Penn), nephew David (Diane). Neil grew up on Vancouver Island and Vancouver and from an early age proved himself to be a hard worker. He had a long career in the transportation industry including his own company, Vancouver Courier Services. Neil loved to garden, he liked nothing better than sitting on the back deck surveying his flower garden with his favorite red cats. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 12th at 2:00 pm at Kearney Funeral Home, 1096 West Broadway, Vancouver. Reception to follow at 3:30 at the Marine Drive Golf and Country Club, 7425 Yew Street. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Society.
