THOMSON, Muriel Dorothy (Whyte). On Sunday, April 27, 2008, Dorothy died peacefully at her home in Abbotsford, surrounded by her family as the birds sang at sunrise. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Alan; was the beloved mother of: Karen, Gregg, and Dean; cherished mother-in-law to Jane Akroyd and Josee Rheaume; dearly-loved grandmother of Jessica (Yan), Katherine, Matthew, and Camille; dear sister of Ross Whyte (Gretta). Dorothy always encouraged love, kindness, and friendship, and many dear friendships were the result. Her relationship with Margaret Walker was a life partnership, and Raymond was her Godsend. Due to her close relationships with people of all ages, Dorothy became a mother to many; Norman, Isabelle, Russ, Maryse, Betty Lou, Debbie, Laureen, Bonnie, and Laurie all experienced her care and deep love. Her love and unconditional support will be missed dearly. Mum's 'Celebration of Life' service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the Granby United Church. It is a service that she herself has largely planned out for us. In the beautiful, spring morning air, the church will be opened early for visiting and reminiscing. Following the service, Dorothy's family and friends will continue on to the Abbotsford Parish Hall for the continued celebration. The interment will be a small family ceremony at the Abbotsford United Church Cemetery just before the reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Abbotsford United Church Cemetery Fund and/or The Brome-Mississquoi-Perkins Hospital Foundation.
