Arab - Funeral services for Ethel McGinnis Johnston, 89, formerly of Jacksonville, Alabama, will be at 2:30 p.m. today, July 14, 2009, at the K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel, in Jacksonville, with the Rev. Scott Smith and the Rev. Edward Johnston officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. prior to the service. Mrs. Johnston died Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Marshall Medical Center North, in Guntersville. She is survived by her husband, Sargent Johnston; her daughter, Laverne Pace and her husband, Herbert; three grandchildren, Bryan Johnston, Jenni Pace Presnell and Heather Pace; two great-grandchildren, Sydney Wilder and Cole Johnston; one step-great- grandchild, Aaron Hill; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Billy Carr, Richard Carr, Lanny Gaines, Jerry McGinnis, Sonny McGinnis and Sonny Thackerson. Mrs. Johnston was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Arab. She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Annie McGinnis; her son, Kenneth Johnston; one granddaughter, Karen Johnston Wilder; seven brothers and two sisters.
