Michael S. WeinSunday the world lost one of the good ones. Michael S. Wein passed away peacefully at his home after a 6 year battle with esophageal cancer. A special thanks to Team Sunnenberg at Sacred Heart and Dr. Manjit Baines and Dr. David Ilson at Sloan Kettering for their amazing care and support. Mike was married to Debbi for over 24 wonderful years and she will need your love and prayers in the coming days. Besides Debbi, Mike is survived by his mother, Marge Wein of Pensacola FL; three sons, Bill (Dawn) Wein of Gulf Breeze FL, Robby (Kim) Karesh of Nashville TN and Greg (Tammy) Thiel of Phoenix AZ, daughter Carla Wallace (fiancé Joe Stiles) of Gulf Breeze FL, and six grandchildren Bryce, Samuel, Abby, Baily, Brody and Alyssa. Mike is also survived by his sister, Barbara (Earl) Allen of Birmingham AL and brother, Stephen (Linda) Wein of Pacific MO, and an entire cast of nieces and nephews. For Mike, life wasn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it was about learning how to dance in the rain…. Family and friends were Mike's primary focus. Living large and without reservation was his passion. An entrepreneur at heart, Mike invented and reinvented himself in business time and time again. Mike was born in Brooklyn, NY. After attending Columbia University, Mike and his family moved to Dothan, AL chasing a dream of owning a radio station. As a radio station owner Mike (aka Dr. Jive), and his family, brought rock and roll to the south. Mike was also a concert promoter, owned the Southeast franchise of Budget Rental Car, was given a Masters in Donutology when he owned a Mr. Donut franchise, and even dabbled in the unfinished furniture business with a hardware store aptly named Mighty Mikes Hardware. In the late 1990s, Mike reinvented himself again, becoming an executive recruiter in a new thing called Cable Television. His gut again was right on. He moved to Denver and formed Media Management Resources, which became the nation's preeminent retained search firm in building the executive ranks of cable and telephone companies like Time Warner and AT&T to name a few. From that came Intelligent Management Solutions, delivering interim executives on assignments all over the world. In late 2000, Mike saw yet another need when two clients approached searching for expert witnesses. Again, another business was born - IMS Expert Services. In Mike's life he not only connected the dots, he made them. His success in business was surpassed only by his most prized accomplishment, his family and circle of friends too numerous to mention. An avid sailor, lover of music and world traveler, there was rarely a time that he wasn't exploring the waters and the world with friends and family. A mentor and wise advisor, he leaves the world a better place than he found it. A memorial service of celebration for Mike's life will be held on Friday, November 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at Temple Beth El in Pensacola. All family and friends are invited to join us in this celebration. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in memory of Mike to Covenant Hospice of Pensacola. Please express condolences online at www.watersandhibbert.com.WATERS & HIBBERT FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.Express your condolences in our guestbook at pnj.com/obits
