Michael Patterson, 46 PORTLAND -- Michael Patterson, 46, died suddenly Monday as a result of a bicycle accident on the Portland waterfront. Michael worked on Portland's waterfront for the past 25 years as a commercial fisherman. During that time he worked on many boats in and around Portland, and survived two rescues at sea, from which he had to be airlifted to safety. He will be missed for the character he was and the generous nature of his personality. Many people in the Portland fishing community thought of Mike as one of their family. He will be sadly missed by friends and family. Michael is survived by his sister, Faye Berube of Hollis; and his brother, Courtney Patterson of Nova Scotia, Canada. Michael will take a final journey to Canada, where he will be with other members of his family. There will be a memorial service at St Luke's Cathedral on 143 State Street in Portland at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 8. Following will be a gathering at Breakaways Restaurant on 35 India Street in Portland to celebrate Michael. Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home & Cremation Service 775-3763
