Mary Waldner-Knapp August 23, 1923 March 25, 2008 The family of Mary Waldner-Knapp, with sadness, announces her passing on March 25, 2008. She suffered from a brief illness after breaking her hip in an accidental fall. It is a deep comfort to know that she is with her Lord, Jesus Christ, after a lifelong journey of faith. Mary leaves behind her children: Valerie (Bob) Teskey of Edmonton, Gordon (Terry) Waldner of Biggar and Kerrie (Gary) Krieg of Osler. Five of her siblings remain: Anne Dyson, Helen (Nick) Koleada, and Gordon (Lorna) Fairweather, all of Saskatoon, Bill Fairweather of Ottawa, and Grace (Michael) Prochaska of Roseburg, Oregon. Her sister-in-law, Clara Waldner, resides in Saskatoon. Ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren will also miss her. Her parents, Finlay and Helen Fairweather, her husband of fifty-two years, Andrew Waldner, and her second husband, Ben Knapp, predeceased Mary. Her brother, Jim of Vancouver, passed away recently. Her beloved son, Stewart, died twenty-one years ago. She was born in Allan in August of 1923 and moved to Saskatoon in 1928. Mary and Andy lived briefly in Abbotsford while Andy trained during WWII. They also attended Bible School in Three Hills, Alberta. Mary was a stayat-home mom while we were growing up. We could count on her being home for us. She supported all of our activities and cheered us on at countless events. Mary's picture appeared in the Star-Phoenix in 1970 as the only fan in the stands at one of Gordon's track meets on a nasty, cold, rainy, windy day. She loved to knit and sew and created a multitude of garments for her children and grandchildren. She was at her best hosting family gatherings at Christmas and other occasions. Mom was never a photographer but managed to accumulate a remarkable collection of photos of her family. The great joy of her life was seeing and holding her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Mary and Andy were founding members of the Alliance Church in Saskatoon. They whole-heartedly involved themselves in church life. Mom's passion was supporting the missionaries of Jesus around the world. One highlight of her life was a trip to Ecuador and Columbia to visit missionary friends. "My God shall supply all your needs according his riches in glory by Christ Jesus ": Philippians 4:19. In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate donations to the Gideon Bible Society. A celebration of Mom's life will be held at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be beside Andy at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to Lynn Constantinoff of PARK FUNERAL CHAPEL, 244-2103.
