THOMSON, Mary MargaretIt is with much sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mary Margaret Helen Thomson, who passed on January 17, 2017 at the age of 84, after a courageous and hard-fought battle with Alzheimer''s. Left to mourn are her three boys David (Sheila), Allen (Cindy) and Peter (Lina). She leaves behind 12 grandchildren, as well as 2 great-grandchildren, which provided endless hours of entertainment and joy to her. Born in East York Township, ON on July 6, 1932, Margaret was the only child of Minnie Ohura and John McPeake. At a very young age her family moved to Winnipeg, MB and it''s there that she first encountered a neighbourhood fellow named Albert. From there unfolded the beginning of a beautiful love story, one that was to last over 61 years of marriage. Hand-in-hand, they forged a life together starting with the marriage in 1955, and it wasn''t long after that they welcomed the arrival of their 1st son, David, followed by Allen and Peter to complete their family. During the early years Mom was very busy raising three boys, and with help from Gammy managed to look after everyone and everything that was required in a very active household. Mom and Dad were able to enjoy many trips to Hawaii and some great years of golf at the Pitt Meadows Golf Club and at El Cajon, CA. When not on the course or curling, Mom would often pass the time cheering on her beloved Blue Jays – a pastime that she cherished. An avid reader and crossword player, Mom always had something going on, right up until the last few years when she was no longer able, due to complications from Alzheimer''s. A gentle soul who always considered the needs of others before hers, we will always cherish the good times and happy memories that celebrated Mom''s life.
