The funeral for Mrs. Mary Louise Watkins will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, at Elkins Funeral Home chapel, with Sonny Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. today. Elkins Funeral Home, Florence, is assisting the family.Mrs. Watkins, 88, passed away Sunday, Oct. 31, at her home after an extended illness. She was a gifted homemaker and a wonderful cook who loved flowers and working in her yard and was known for her beautiful quilts.Mrs. Watkins was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Watkins, in April 1958; and a daughter, Bobbie Sue Thompson, September 2000.Louise is survived by her son, Charles L. Watkins, of Florence; two daughters, Jean Pollard, of Florence, and Earline Pollard, of Tony, Ala.; and her grandchildren, Pam Burns, Ted Pollard, Teresa Smith, Dan Pollard Jr., Tony Pollard, Tracy Pollard, Kim Terrell, Angie Tyra, Roby Thompson, Paula Spurlock, Jana Kruse and Ashley Watkins. Mrs. Watkins is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren, two stepgreat-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.Pallbearers will include her family members. Doctors Ricky Irons, John Young and Edsel Holden will serve as honorary pallbearers.The Watkins family gratefully acknowledges the skilled and compassionate care provided by Hospice of the Shoals. The family would also like to thank her wonderful caregivers, Elsie Marks, Dorothy Ahonen and Lisa Elrod for the love and care they gave our mother.Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to Hospice of the Shoals or to the Alzheimers Association.
