Graveside services for Mrs. Mary Frances Reid 101 will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday November 14 2005 at Browns Cemetery with Rev. Steven Callicoatt officiating. Burial will follow with Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Reid died Thursday November 10 2005 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital following a short illness. Mrs. Reid was born December 1 1903 to the late Dolphus Lee and Mary Lou Blackmon Hopper. She was a lifelong resident of the Browns Community of Madison County. She was affiliated from infancy with Browns United Methodist Church and became a member at age 9 and maintained a devout interest in her Lord and her church until her death. In addition to her church she especially loved her family friends and community. She was always happiest when doing things for others. Mrs. Reid attended Watson's School near where Nova is now located. She graduated from Browns High School in 1922 and attended West Tennessee Business College. She was a homemaker merchant and a wonderful mother. Mrs. Reid was married to the late Edwin Oscar Reid on November 22 1936. He preceded her in death on September 23 1968. She was also preceded in death by two brothers Brooks Hopper and J. D. Hopper. Mrs. Reid is survived by her son Edwin L. Reid and his wife Beverly. Pallbearers to serve are Joe Pickens John McKissack Jack Wilson Dean Barry Grady Gene Neely and Charlie Butler. The family requests memorials be made to Brown's United Methodist Church.
