December 1, 2004 Mary E. (Padden) Hahn, 80, of Syracuse, died Wednesday morning at Crouse Hospital. The eldest of Edward and Sarah Padden's 11 children, Mary was born in Greenwood, NY, and graduated from Arkport Central School. She moved to Syra-cuse in 1945 to continue her nursing studies at Memorial Hospital. That same year she met and married George E. Hahn. They built a house in Eastwood, raised a family, and traveled extensively until George's death in 1992. Mary's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her highest priority and great joy. She also enjoyed gardening, baking, traveling and reading. Mary was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. Besides her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by four brothers. She is survived by her sons, Patrick E. of Syracuse, James M. of Liverpool, and Gary (Akum Norder) of Albany; her daughters, Mary Anne Hahn and B.J. Atwater of Syracuse; brothers, Patrick Padden of Wellsville, NY, and James Padden of Syracuse; sisters, Teresa Heinemann of Tulsa, OK, Sara Rita Johnson of Wellsville, Patty Joyce of Andover, NY, and Ruth Culbert of Scio, NY; grandchildren, Christopher (Kim) Atwater, Pvt. Daniel Atwater and Eric Loucks of Syracuse, and Clies Hahn of Albany; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services are Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home and at 9 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial is in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 3111 James St. Contributions may be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave, Syracuse 13208.
