Mary A. (Mullen) Heffernan of Scituate died after a period of failing health Nov. 1, 2010, at the age of 85. Mary passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Devoted wife of the late John Heffernan, she was the loving mother of Jacqueline McDonald and her husband David of Weymouth, Marie Sheehan and her husband Joe of Weymouth, James Heffernan of Weymouth, John Heffernan and his wife Alma of Scituate, Paula Ralston and her husband John of Scituate, Sandra Hornstra and her husband Gary of Arizona and Kevin Heffernan and his wife Amy of Kingston. Also surviving Mary are 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; as well as Elizabeth Brugman of Winthrop, Marys faithful sister-in-law. Mary was born in South Boston, lived in Charlestown, and then settled in Weymouth, where she and her husband raised their seven children. In her later years, Mary loved living in Scituate with her daughter Paula and her family. Mary was a homemaker, whose main passion was spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by those who were blessed to have known her. Funeral from the Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, Monday, Nov. 8, at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Mary of the Nativity Church, Scituate, at 10 a.m. Interment to follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at 12:30 p.m. Visiting hours Sunday from 2-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marys memory may be made to Friends of Eric Donovan, P.O.
