MARIE IRENE BAKER An energetic life well lived. Born and raised in Midland, Ontario surrounded by loving family, Marie was an intelligent, young woman who skipped 2 grades of school. A sharp dresser with fabulous hair and business acumen, Marie was well suited for her 20 year career at The Bell. Her wide and varied interests included working as a volunteer on the executive of federal and provincial riding associations, the Victoria Women's Association and the CWL. Her fundraising efforts were appreciated by York Central Hospital, Union Villa, the Cancer Society, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Her favourite delights were dancing, bowling, exercise class, vegetable gardening, attending live theatre, going to the movies, eating Shopsy's at the Ex, reading the Toronto Star (especially the financial section), doing crosswords, and reading historical fiction while eating Laura Secords and cashews. She was a woman with a world view. She travelled through Europe, the West Indies, the Arctic, Canada and the U.S. Marie's strong faith permeated her whole life from her daily Rosary and spiritual readings to her selfless acts of love for others.
