HANLEY, Marie Alice HanemannMarie Alice Hanemann Hanley, nicknamed "Susie" by her father, passed away at her home in North Palm Beach, Florida on November 4, 2013 surrounded by the love of her family and her faith in God. Susie was born in September of 1934 to Albert Henry and Marie Alice Blancq Hanemann in New Orleans, Louisiana and attended St. Rita School, the Academy of Sacred Heart, and Loyola University where she was admitted to the Blue Key Honor Society and received her degree in Elementary Teaching. Upon graduation, Susie taught 2nd grade at Ursuline Academy for two years. While at Loyola, Susie met Dr. Fleming J. Hanley, Jr. and they married in 1957. In June of 1964, they moved to Palm Beach, FL, so Dr. Hanley, Jr. could practice oral and maxillofacial surgery with his father, Dr. F. J. Hanley, Sr. Susie, the most loving, kind and gentle mother raised their three children, Celeste, Joey, and Renee. Susie then went back to school in 1971 to obtain her Associate Degree as a Registered Nurse and, for 25 years, provided attentive and loving care to the patients of St. Mary's Medical Center. Susie's greatest joy was family and she delighted in having her children live within mere minutes of her home in North Palm Beach. She was actively involved in the many activities of her children and, more recently, the activities of her grandchildren. Susie "Grandma" loved music and took great pleasure in playing the piano and even greater pleasure in listening to the musical talents of her grandchildren. Susie is survived by her husband, Dr. Fleming J. Hanley, Jr.; her children and their spouses, Marie "Celeste" Hanley-Petrich and Dr. Kevin M. Petrich of North Palm Beach, FL, Fleming J. (Joey) Hanley, III and Karen Hopper Hanley of North Palm Beach, FL, and Renee and Tod Michaelis; three grandchildren, Christian, Lacie, and Sophie Michaelis of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; a sister, Aimee Hanemann of Baton Rouge, LA; two brothers and their spouses, Pete and Jerri Hanemann of Cornelius, North Carolina and Carl and Cherie Hanemann of New Orleans, LA.; and many adoring nieces and nephews. The family will receive family and friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 10th at Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 1201 S. Olive Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33401, followed by a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 11th at St. Clare Catholic Church, 821 Prosperity Farms Road, North Palm Beach, FL 33408. She will be buried alongside her parents in the Hanemann Family Tomb in New Orleans, Louisiana. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to her dear friend Dorothy Martin, and to her caregivers, Shanta, Laurie, Joyce and Paulet.
