Margery Johnson Norton taught for ten years at Colby-Sawyer College Spokane, WA Margery Johnson Norton, of Spokane, WA passed away July 5, 2008. She was born May 7, 1927. Margery attended Middlebury College in Vermont, graduating Phi Beta Kappa in 1949. She earned her M.A. in history at Clark University in Worcester, MA, and then taught for four years at private secondary schools in Grosse Pointe, MI and Portland, OR. She returned to Clark U. to study for the Ph.D. which she received in 1966. She taught for ten years at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH before moving with her husband Donald to Ashley, MA in 1969. She taught occasionally in the graduate division of Fitchburg State College and served as clerk in the Ashby Congregational Church. She attended two synods of the United Church of Christ as representative of the Massachusetts Conference and was for many years on the Board of Trustees and Library Committee of the American Congregational Association of Boston. She is survived by her husband, Donald Norton. NORTON No public services will be held.
