->NEVINS, MARGARET HELENMargaret Helen Nevins passed away peacefully on June 6, 2011, she was 88 years old. Born on August 31, 1922 in Yonkers, NY, she was the only daughter of Michael & Helen Murphy. She also had 4 brothers, Jimmy, Jack, Joseph & Michael.
After graduating High School in Yonkers, Margaret's patriotism and love of country led her to join the WAC (Women's Auxiliary Corp) during WW2. After the fall of the German Army, she served on staff in Berlin under the command of General Eisenhower.After moving her family from Yonkers to New City, NY in 1961, Margaret became an active and involved member of the Church and community. She volunteered with St. Augustine's Catholic Church (Catholic Big Sisters, Ancient Order of Hibernians) & other local volunteer-support organizations (Meals on Wheels, VA Hospital – aid to the handicapped & elderly and worked at Hospice ). After her time spent volunteering at the VA Hospital, Margaret (a VFW herself) became actively involved with the VFW (Veterans of Foreign War) And American Legion Post 1682 in New City. She served as Secretary, Jr. Vice Commander, Vice Commander and Commander. 
In 1946, Margaret married William (Bill) Nevins II. In addition to her brother Michael, she is survived by her 5 children; William Nevins III and wife Mary , Michael Nevins and wife Carol, Patricia Lacombe and husband Peter , Maureen Oliver and Husband Tom, and James Nevins and partner Marcio & 7 grandchildren (Eric Nevins, Samuel and Margret Nevins, Danielle and Lt Michael Lacombe, Brian and Kate Oliver) and many nieces and nephews. 
Margaret's passions in life included her Family, Church and Country (Veterans Affairs) and heritage (all things Ireland). She will be forever remembered for her unyielding kindness to all, love for family & friends and NEVER ENDING positive Christ like outlook on life all followed by a smile and a laugh.
Services for Margaret will be held at Higgins Funeral Home in New City on June 9th from 2 - 4 pm. and 7-9 pm A funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be at Saint Augustine's Main Street, New City conducted by Monsieur Cox, June 10 at 10:00 AM Flowers or a donation to: Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
