She will be sadly missed by her daughter Carol (Andrew) Walker and son-in-law John Walker of Bedford, granddaughter Christine Walker of Toronto, grandson Brian Walker and wife Angela of Halifax, and niece Margot (Kay) Hillman and family of Markham, Ontario. Margaret was born in Orangeville, Ontario, the daughter of the late William Irvine and Olive (McMillan) Irvine. She was predeceased by her husband, Col./Dr. John Andrew, and her sister, Helen (Irvine) Kay. Margaret graduated from the University of Toronto in Occupational Therapy in 1932 and worked in hospitals in Cobourg, Kingston and Hamilton, Ontario. In 1944, she joined the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps and served overseas during WWII in England where she was promoted to the rank of Captain. In 1994, Margaret moved to Nova Scotia to be near her daughter and family. She lived for over twelve years at Melville Heights in Halifax where she made new friends and enjoyed her apartment with the view of the Northwest Arm. Margaret's family would like to especially thank PCW's Kim, Heather, Rose and Sheila, the staff of Melville Heights, Dr. Karen Clarke, and the staff of the QEII, especially the nursing staff on unit 8.3, for their care and kindness to Margaret. A memorial service to celebrate Margaret's life will be held on Saturday, January 13th at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Melville Heights with Rev. David Hart officiating. There will be no visitation. As she wished, Margaret will be buried with her beloved husband John in Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa.
