Michael John O'Reilly, former chairman and owner of RMS Corporation in Kitchener, Ontario, which makes tire manufacturing equipment, died on July 7, 2001 at his home in Larchmont, NY. He was 72. The cause was non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Originally from Manhattan and County Meath, Ireland, Mr. O'Reilly graduated from The Polytechnical Institute of Brooklyn, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He went on to serve as a Lieutenant in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. After Korea he attended the Harvard Business School where he graduated with an MBA. Throughout his career, he held executive positions at Exxon, Warburg, Becker & Paribas, and UniRoyal before going out on his own as a venture capitalist. In 1993 he purchased RMS Corporation and ran it until its sale in 1999. Michael O'Reilly was prized for his expansiveness and sociability. A ready wit, a love of books and conversation and a fine Irish Baritone, made him a desired guest and a much-loved host. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Driscoll; his children Michael, Anne, Eileen; and his grandchildren Liam, Ciaran, Aiden, and Nolan, and his brothers Bernard and Patrick. Visitation will be held Monday and Tuesday 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, 10 am at Sts. John and Paul Church.
