MARY J. MAYVILLE - ESSEX JUNCTION - Mary J. Mayville, 86, a longtime resident of Essex Junction, died peacefully on Saturday, April 28, 2012, in Green Mountain Nursing Home in Colchester. Mary was born in Chicago, Ill., on June 18, 1925, the daughter of William and Wilma (Kotter) Perkins, and was raised and educated in Illinois. She met Roy Mayville Jr. while he was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base, and they were married in Long Beach, Calif., on Oct. 31, 1945. Roy predeceased her on Jan. 29, 1974. She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox, enjoyed Bingo and spending time with her family. Mary is survived by four children, Jeannette Valliere of Texas, Douglas Mayville and wife, Linda, of East Greenbush, N.Y., William Mayville and wife, Mae, of Essex Junction, and Connie Mayville of Essex Junction; two grandchildren, Luke Mayville of Burlington, and Susan Shimp and husband, Brad, of Texas; one great-granddaughter, Samantha Shimp of Texas; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Normand Valliere. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St. in Winooski. Funeral services celebrating Mary's life will be held at the LaVigne Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 2nd, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at New Mount Calvary Cemetery in Burlington.
