WALL, MARTHA HEWES Martha Hewes Wall passed away on February 15th just days before her 80th birthday. Beloved wife of Harold Dean Wall, Jr. for 56 years, Martha is survived by her daughters-- Bonnie Lessman and husband Carl, and Wendy Wall and husband Jules Law. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Julie Gast and husband Alan; Matthew Law; Jenny Lessman, Camille Lessman; and Leah Wall; and also by her niece, Kay Lusco and husband,Terry. Martha is survived by her devoted caregiver Denise Whitley. Born February 22, 1932, to Samuel Glenn Hewes and Ruth Ritch Hewes, Martha was the younger sister of the late Katherine Dumas. After graduating from Ramsay High School, she attended the University of Alabama where she was a member of the Phi Mu sorority as well as the anchor of the nationally awarded debate team. Martha was an esteemed teacher of English at Thompson High School for 23 years and West End High School for 6 years. A life long member, Sunday school teacher, and Life Deacon at Southside Baptist Church, she was also a passionate fan of Alabama football. She worked with her husband in the Republican Party for over 50 years and was a member of the Mid-Alabama Republican Club. Martha enjoyed sailboating with her family on the local lakes and coast and relaxing with her family on the annual vacations at the beach. She will be missed by all who knew her. The funeral will be held at Southside Baptist Church on Saturday, February 18th, at 2:00. Visitation will be at the church at noon.
