NEWTON, MARIE HOLMES 85, of Birmingham, Alabama, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on December 28, 2012. She was a member of Sharon Heights Baptist Church and a former member of 23 years of Gateway Baptist Church. She is survived by her sister, Pat Washburn (Billy) of Gardendale, AL; sons: Harvie Holmes (Debbie) of Porterville, MS and Donald Holmes of Clanton, AL; Daughters: Ellen Lott (Robert) of Mt. Olive, AL and Frances Chambers (Steve) of Warrior, AL; Grandchildren: Michael Holmes (Lisa) of Corpus Christi, TX, Robin Denison (Chuck) of Meridian, MS, Rebecca Burton (Eric) of Empire, AL, Tim Holmes of Locust Fork, AL, David Holmes (Riza) of Pinson, AL, Steve Holmes (Jeanette) of Springville, AL, Tommy Brooks (Rene) of Remlap, AL, Lisa Johnson (Curtis) of Pinson, AL, and Joe Wilcutt (Stephanie) of Remlap, AL; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel on Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel on Monday, December 31, 2012 beginning at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Calvin Armstrong.
