MONUMENT, Colo. M. Lois McCaleb Williams, age 85 of Monument, Colo., formerly of Hubbertville in Fayette Co., passed away Friday, February 8, 2008 at her residence in Monument, Colo. A memorial service will be held at Berea Church of Christ in Fayette County near Hubbertville on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Miles Funeral Home of Winfield will be directing the service. Her cremains will be interred in the family plot in the Berea Church Cemetery. She was born on December 7, 1922 in Fayette Co., the only daughter of William Vaughn McCaleb and Edril Hubbert McCaleb of Hubbertville. She graduated from Hubbertville High School in 1941. After World War II, she married Army Air Corp B-17 Pilot, Capt. Gerald L. Williams in Birmingham. She was widowed in 1961 as Gerald was killed in Colorado while piloting an Air Force jet for the United States Air Force Academy. She then later married another Air Force officer, Col. Chet Haas, who passed away in 2007. She spent the majority of her adult life living near her beloved Air Force Academy, where her son Clarence "Sonny" Williams attended school as a cadet.She is survived by three sons, Gerald L. "Jerry" (Sherri Wilson) Williams of Sausalito, Calif., Clarence A. "Sonny" Williams of Monument, Colo., and Allen McCaleb "Mac" Williams of Savannah, Ga.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one step-daughter, Candace Foy of San Antonio, Texas; three brothers, Clarence A. (Virginia) McCaleb of Winfield, William Vaughn (Lois) McCaleb, Jr. of Jasper, and Hubbert Steven McCaleb of Hubbertville; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.
