WHITEHALL - Lucy F. Waters, 87, of Potter Street, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2010, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center in the arms of her family.Born on January 9, 1923, in Whitehall, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Anna (Phearella) Leonbruno. She was one of seven children in the Leonbruno family.She was a graduate of Whitehall High School, Class of 1942. In 1951, she was united in marriage to Stanley L. Waters of Whitehall. They were married for 47 years until his passing in 1999.Lucy worked as a freight agent for 30 years on the Delaware & Hudson Railroad.She was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church. She was a member of the American Legion, Post #83 Auxiliary, the Glens Falls Hospital Guild and was past member of the Whitehall Fawns.She is survived by two sons, Larry Waters and his wife, Mary Anne, and their two children, Mary Kate Ellingson and her husband, Mark, and Daniel Waters and his fiancee, Deena Myers, and David Waters and his fiancee, Roxanne Frasier, and children, Kevin Gecha, Grant Burns, Weslie Burns and Dylan Burns; one sister, Josephine Twyman; two brothers, Paul Leonbruno and John Leonbruno; and many nieces and nephews.Lucy's passing was predeceased by her siblings, David Leonbruno, Mary Gooley and Loretta French.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 12, 2010 at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas Zelkar officiating.Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Whitehall.Family and friends may call at the Jillson Funeral Home, Inc., 46 Williams Street, Whitehall on Sunday, April 11, 2010 from 6 PM to 9 PM.Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family and friends, Antoinette Frandino and Corinne Lampkins, and in her early years, she liked to garden, crochet and read.A special thank you to her home aide, Mary Greenough, and to the Rutland Hospital nurses, Whitehall Health Center staff and Dr. Max Crossman, who provided great compassion and care for her.Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation in Lucy's name to Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, 9 Wheeler Avenue, Whitehall, New York 12887.View the guest book at www.rutlandherald.com/ obits.
