Avis de décès de Lois-Mae Thomson


Decatur<!--Decatur-->Funeral for Lois Mae Thomson, 86, of Decatur will be today, June 25, 2008, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Boling officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Mrs. Thomson, who died Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Riverside Senior Living Center, was born June 22, 1921, in Joliet, Ill., to William G. Ferrell and Josephine R. Ferrell. She retired as a clerical and paramedical secretary, and private piano and voice teacher. Throughout her life, she served churches as choir director, choir member and Sunday school teacher. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Decatur, taught Sunday school, and was a member of the chancel choir. She was a past volunteer with Hospice and volunteered with the Decatur General Auxiliary for over 19 years, serving two terms as president. She was also a member of Chapter Q of P.E.O. in Decatur and served on the board for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Thomson, who passed away on Oct. 18, 1985. Survivors include one son, William Ferrell Thomson, and wife, Deborah, of Decatur; one daughter, Nancy Jo Michaud, and husband, A. Kim, of Charlotte, N.C.; one brother, William Ferrell, and wife, Mildred, of St. Joseph, Mich.; two sisters, Shirley Garey of Stevensville, Mich., and Jean Pearson of Lighthouse Point, Fla.; four grandchildren, Jason Bratu and wife, Irene, of Bakersfield, Calif., Michael Bratu and wife, Cheryl, of Plano, Texas, and Beth Gasque and husband, Kevin, and Jennifer Chevallier and husband, Neil, both of Mobile; and three great-grandchildren, Jade Bratu, Tara Bratu and Sienna Bratu, all of Bakersfield, Calif. Pallbearers will be William Thomson, A. Kim Michaud, Neil Chevallier, Robert Wolf, Jason Bratu and Jimmy Cantrell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, the Decatur General Hospital Foundation or to Hospice of the Valley.
