REID Lois Jean Hooten-Reid, 77, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 8, 2012. She was born December 29, 1934 in Orlando, FL to the late Alton R. & Mildred Gantt-Hooten. Lois loved doing ceramics and volunteering her time to work with the PTA at schools and at the Dorcus Drake Christmas Party. She was always reaching out and sharing her love for the Lord and a hand to others in need. Lois was a member of North Jacksonville Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her brother, James Robert Hooten, grandson, Paul Hooten, and her sister, Baby Girl Hooten. Lois is survived by her sons, John Reid, III (Vicky) and Michael Reid (Kimberley), both of Jacksonville; daughters, Catherine Reid of Lake City, Susan Dean (Roy) and Patricia Worthington (Bruce), both of Jacksonville; brother, Billy Ray Hooten (Bobbie); sister-in-law, Margaret Hooten (wife of James) of Steinhatchee, FL; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 12 at 11AM in the chapel of Cedar Bay Funeral Home, 405 New Berlin Road, Jacksonville, with Rev. Tim Rigdon officiating, assisted by her grandson, John Dean. Interment will follow in Chapel Hills Memory Gardens, 850 St. Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, 32225.
