WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Lillie Mae Hammond, 97, of West Palm Beach, Florida went home to be with the Lord on January 25, 2009. She was born in Burke County, Georgia on January 2, 1912. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James T. Hammond, Sr.; her parents Willie P. and Addie (Powell) Netherland; an infant sister, Emily Sarah Netherland; another sister, Elizabeth Louise (Netherland) Doan; a brother-in- law, Merle A. Doan, Sr.; and an infant son Albert Thomas Hammond. She was a member of Haverhill Baptist Church, West Palm Beach, Fl. She is survived by 5 children, William Thomas Hammond, Sr. (Maxine), of Augusta, Ga.; James Edward Hammond (Sarah), of Ponce de Leon, Fl.; Beverly Ann Hammond Powell (John), of West Palm Beach, Fl.; James Thomas Hammond, Jr. (Barbara), of Midville, Ga.; and Robert Leonard Hammond, of West Palm Beach, Fl; Nine grandchildren; Eighteen great- grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; a nephew, Merle A. Doan (Sybil); a niece, Jane Doan Houck (Rick); and many other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at Historic Bark Camp Baptist Church Cemetery, Midville, Burke County, Georgia, on Friday, January 30th at 2:00 pm. W.T. Hammond, Jr. will officiate, Jennifer Hammond Wilson will provide singing. Pall bearers will be grandsons: Donald R. Powell, Philip E. Hammond, Bruce L. Hammond, Robert L. Hammond, Jr., and great-grandsons, Will G. Galloway and Tyler M. Hammond. DeLoach Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 842 N.
