Leon Harvel Allen, 72, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at Gulf Coast Medical Center. Leon was born March 1, 1936, in Kissimmee, Fla., a son of the late Ralph and Eunice King Allen. Leon retired from the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War and the Korean War. After his Army retirement, he worked as a computer analyst at Naval Coastal Systems. Leon enjoyed gardening, woodworking, camping and was an animal lover. His family remembers him as the most incredible and giving person they ever knew and took pride being Lauren Allen's granddaddy. He took interest in helping other people. He is survived by three sons, Terry L. Allen of Panama City Beach, Fla., Carl Allen and wife, Pamela, of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Christopher Allen and wife, Molly, of Panama City Beach, Fla.; one brother, William Allen and wife, Dorothy, of South Florida; and one granddaughter, Lauren Yvonne Allen of Panama City Beach, Fla. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
