AllanGreenvilleLaura Katherine Allan, 55, of Greenville, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2014 after a long illness.Laura was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 1, 1958. Laura grew up in Holly, Michigan then moved with her family to Oscoda, Michigan in 1973. She graduated from Oscoda High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan. Laura trained in Flint, Michigan and Augusta, Georgia and received certification as an X-Ray and Ultrasound Technician.Laura lived in Aiken, South Carolina and worked as an Ultrasound Technician for a number of hospitals and doctors in North and South Carolina until being diagnosed with Alzheimers. She enjoyed canoeing, golf, bird watching and walking. She loved her cats, all animals and enjoyed the company of friends and family.Laura is survived by parents, Richard and Nancy (Bonathan) Allan of Salem, South Carolina; brother, David and Kay (Newsted) Allan of Liberty, South Carolina; nephew, Cameron Allan of Ferndale, Michigan; and other family and friends. Laura is preceded in death by younger brother, Richard Scott Allan.Laura desired that there be no memorial service.Memorial donations may be given to your local animal rescue society. The family of Laura wishes to thank the staff at Arboretum of the Woodlands at Furman, Visiting Angels, Interim Hospice of Greenville, SC, and her prior caregiver, Virginia Cooper of Aiken, SC.
