WESTBROOK - Laura Demers, 92, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005 at a local nursing home.She was bom in Skowhegan, the daughter of Alphonse and Mary Frechette Demers.Laura worked for the S.D. Warren Co., on the coater cutters for 35 years, retiring in 1976. She also did volunteer work for the Westbrook Community Hospital, St. Joseph Manor, and worked to get Springbrook Nursing Home started, where she did volunteer work for many years.She was a communicant of St. Hyacinth Church.Laura loved her home and working outside of it.She was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Demers and his wife, Yvonne; a sister, Agnes Hebert; a niece, Theresa Gagnon; nephew, Emile Demers; and a sister-in-law, Blanche Demers.She is survived by a brother, Philip Demers of Westbrook; nieces and nephews, Jeannine Hebert of Westbrook, Laura and Jack Anderson of Westbrook, Pauline and Sonny Rich of Portland, Grace Hebert of Westbrook, Andre and Debbie Demers of Westbrook, Roger and Gwen Demers of San Antonio, Texas, Rae Ann Doughty of Gorham, Marcia and Gene Leduc of Westbrook, Sister Germaine Demers of Methuen, Mass., and Steve Gagnon of Westbrook; several great- nieces and nephews and great-great- nieces and nephews.Visiting hours will be from 2 to 6 p.m., Monday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday at St. Mary's Church. Interment will be in St. Hyacinth Cemetery.The family would like to thank the staff at the Springbrook Nursing Home for their loving care over the last five years.
