MACMILLAN, Kathleen Rita - March 1, 1916 - October 17, 2009 in Niagara on the Lake, Ontario. Kay was the beloved wife of the late Alexander Duncan MacMillan and the loving mother of Alison MacMillan Ubbink (Martyn) of Niagara on the Lake. She was one of seven children born in Greenfield to MaryAnne Campbell (3rd of Kenyon) and John Angus MacKinnon (6th of Kenyon) in Glengarry County. Kay and Alex (Dunc) were married in Sudbury in 1944 and moved to Strathmore, Ontario, where they enjoyed the friendship of close neighbours; the MacIntoshes, the Crawfords, the Bilmers and the Deruchies. Kay was predeceased by Alex (1991), her brothers, Angus and William (Bill) MacKinnon, her sisters, Anna Lavery, Dorothy Kennedy, Clara MacLeod and Margaret MacKinnon and her sister and brothers-in-law Sadie (MacMillan) Martel and John and Charles MacMillan. Kay was a much loved sister-in-law of Gertrude McDonald of Cornwall, and dear friend of Marguerite Deruchie of Maxville Manor and cousins Tillie and Maurice MacMillan and family of Washago. She was the much cherished aunt of Donna McDonald Levac, David, D'Arcy, Charles and Alan McDonald and Ann McDonald LaPierre, Glenn, Cameron and Leonard Martel (deceased), Gerald MacKinnon and Margaret MacKinnon Todd, Anne Kennedy Berube, Mike, Reverend Philip, Ayngus, Andrew, Neil, Kathleen and Margaret Kennedy and Clara Kennedy Shirley, Rod, Peter and Ray MacLeod and John MacKinnon (deceased). The funeral Mass will be concelebrated by Father Neil MacMillan and Father Philip Kennedy at St. Joseph's Chapel, Black River, Washago, Ontario, at 11AM, Wednesday October 21, 2009. Kay will be laid to rest with her beloved “Dunc“ in the graveyard of the chapel which the MacMillan family helped to build in 1887. They will be loved and remembered always. “To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die“
