Kathleen A. Walp, 90 CARY, N.C. - A longtime resident of East Deering in Portland, Kathleen A. Walp passed away on April 4, 2006, a few days short of her 91st birthday, at Wake Medical Center in Cary, N.C. She was born in Portland, the daughter of John and Delia Coppinger Mooney, and attended schools there. Kathleen was a longtime employee of Porteous Downstairs store in Portland, and was a communicant of St. Pius X Church. Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Arnold H. Walp, brothers John Mooney, Benedict E. Mooney and James P. Mooney: sisters Rita Mooney and M. Elizabeth Hamilton; and granddaughter Jeanne K. Coyne Bridges. She leaves behind her daughters, Constance E. Coyne of Newfane, Vr., and Jeanne K. Joyce and her husband Richard E. Joyce with whom she made her home in Cary, N.C.; brother, Joseph L. Mooney and his wife Shirley of Falmouth; sisters-in-law, Celia Mooney of Yarmouth, and Rita Mooney of Portland; brother-in- law, William Walp and wife Libby of Dundalk, Md.; grandchildren Andrew Coyne of Newfane, Vt., MJ Coyne of Williamsville, Vt., Danielle Joyce of Asheville, N.C., Tyler Joyce of Pennington, N.J. and Brandon Joyce of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four great-grandchildren; and several beloved cousins, nieces and nephews, and dear friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Monday, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial will follow at New Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
