Avis de décès de Jr-James-F. Dwyer


James F. Dwyer, Jr., 82, a resident of Wevertown, N.Y. since 1993, died on Sunday, Dec.20 in the Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, N.J. Originally from Jersey City, Mr. Dwyer then lived in Staten Island. N.Y. for 40 years, prior to his move to Wevertown, N.Y. A veteran of World War II, he honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy. Mr. Dwyer enlisted at age 17 and served as a storekeeper in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was stationed in North Africa and returned home on "Big Mo" - the U.S.S. Missouri. Upon his honorable discharge from the service, Mr. Dwyer followed family tradition and became and asbestos worker along with his father. He joined Local 32 where he served as a business agent from 1973 to 1987, when he became the Local's business manager. Mr. Dwyer held leadership positions in regional and state building trades organizations, including the post of vice president on the New Jersey State Building and Construction Trades Council. His accomplishments on behalf of the brotherhood of Local 32 include collective bargaining agreements, the establishment of membership support programs such as group insurance, vacation and pension plans, and a local union credit union; achievements that truly are his legacy of commitment to the membership he served so well. At the time of his retirement in 2004, Mr. Dwyer held the position of International Representative of Heat & Frost Insulators and Asbestos workers. James was predeceased by his parents, James F., Sr. and Cecilia (Gallagher) Dwyer. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Mitrosky Dwyer; by his three sons and their wives, James F. and Carol Dwyer III of Wevertown, N.Y., John M. and Shannon Dwyer of Johnsburg, N.Y., and Joseph P. and Denise Dwyer of Staten Island, N.Y.; by his daughters, Peg Dwyer of Staten Island, N.Y., Beth Dwyer of Colts Neck, N.J., and Juliann and John Nodalny of Atlantic Highlands, N.J.; also, daughters Kathy, Patty, and Mary. The warmth of his presence will be deeply missed by 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mourning his loss as well are his brother, John Dwyer and his wife, Norma, of Cranford, N.J., and his two sisters, Kathleen Nastasi of Staten Island, N.Y. and Mary Hinners, of Parlin, N.J. His passing will be also felt by the St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church family, Staten Island, N.Y., of which he was a member. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 23, at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Broad Street, Red Bank. Interment is private. In lieu of florwers, donations in James memory may be made to Dr. Irving J. Selikof Center for Occupational & Environmental Medicine, Mt. Sinai Medical Center, One Gustave L.
