Joyce Edith Johnston, 78, Venice, died Oct. 29, 2005. She was born Sept. 2, 1927, in Minneapolis and was raised in Kulm, N.D. She graduated from North Dakota State University in 1949. She taught Sunday school at First Presbyterian Church and was a Girl Scout leader and den mother in Bismarck, N.D. She was a member of Eastern Star and worked with Plantation Foundation in Venice. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Jim; children Scott of Sheboygan Falls, Wis., Paul of Coconut Grove and Ann Anderson of Fargo, N.D.; a brother, Bryan Gackle of Prescott, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be in Fargo, where Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home is in charge.
