WHEELER, JOSEPH TROY - Joseph D. Wheeler, 58, of Troy died peacefully at home on Saturday, March 19, 2011 after a long illness. Born and raised in Troy, he was the son of Margaret Stone Wheeler and the late Donald Wheeler. He is survived by his beloved children, Jason (Jessica) Wheeler and Lindsey Rafferty Wheeler; his sister, Susan (David) Ryan; grandson, Jason and granddaughter, Gabrielle Wheeler, and nieces, Kayla Wheeler, Kiersten and Alexis Ryan. Joe is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceased by his brothers, Mark and David. He worked in his family's business, Wheeler Brothers Brass Foundry and then later started his own auto body shop, Fifth Avenue Collision. Prior to his illness, he worked for DeNooyer Chevrolet. Joe was an avid skier and spent every weekend skiing with his grandson Jason until he became ill. He was a member of the APA Pool League and was the top performing male in 2008. Joe loved spending time with his friends at the Irish Rover, especially his best friends Kathleen Roberts and Dan Laughlin. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service which will be held Tuesday at 11 AM at the Gardner Earl Chapel, Oakwood Cemetery Troy with Pastor Paul Barna of Waterford Wesleyan Church, officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Joseph D. Wheeler to Joseph's House & Shelter, 74 Ferry Street, Troy, NY 12180.
