Nugent, Joseph R. ALBANY Joseph R. Nugent, 62, passed peacefully into eternal life on Sunday, December 10, 2006 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, New York on November 7, 1944, he was the son of the late Thomas and Cecelia Faracy Nugent. Joe's younger brother, Timothy, died as a young child. Joe attended Xaverian High School in Brooklyn, Cathedral College and our Lady of Angels Seminary in Glenmont. He was awarded a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from Niagara University. He continued his studies in theology and then withdrew from the seminary program and worked for the Social Services Department of the City of New York and later for the New York State Department of Social Services. He retired in 2004. Joe was very active in the parish of St. Vincent de Paul , Albany. He served on the parish RCIA Team, the Retreat Team and as lector and eucharistic minister. He was an avid reader and kept up his interest in theological studies both through his reading and by attending annual theological workshops, especially at Fordham and Boston College. Joe is survived by his former wife, Johanna D'Amico of New Jersey and many close friends, especially among the parishioners of St. Vincent de Paul Parish. The Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 13, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 900 Madison Avenue, Albany. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lasak Gigliotti Funeral Home, 8 Dudley Heights (across from Philip Livingston School). Burial will follow immediately in St. Mary's Cemetery, Main Street, South Glens Falls, New York. Donations in Joe's memory may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Parish.
