Joseph A. Millwright Carpenter Age 54 of Division Street Elmira, NY. Passed away Monday, March 19, 2001 unexpectedly at home. He was born August 31, 1946 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late George D. and Margaret M. (Petti) Nichols Sr. He is survived by his loving companion, Sandra M. Smith of Elmira, NY; daughter, Wendy Nichols of Elmira, NY; sister, Peggy (Richard) Buzzetti of Erin, NY; brother, George D. Nichols Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY. Joseph was also very proud and fond of Sandra's children: John (Ali), April, Lynette; special granddaughter, Alayna; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, many close friends and his beloved cat Gert. In February of 1992, Joseph was the NYS Power lifting Champion and held that title for 3 years. He was a car salesman for over 20 years with Elmira Chrysler Plymouth and Kent Brown car dealerships. Mr. Nichols was employed for several years through the Local Carpenter's Union # 532. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service celebrating the life of Joseph on Saturday, March 24, 2001 at 11:00 AM at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 Pennsylvania Ave, Elmira, NY. Deacon Robert Stowell will officiate. Interment, Woodlawn National Cemetery Elmira, NY at the convenience of the family. The family will provide their own flowers. Memorial Donations in the name of Joseph A. Nichols may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
