JOSEPH FRANCIS ABBOTT1951-2008Joseph Francis Abbott, age 57, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2008 in Houston, TX.Joseph or "Lil Joe", as he was lovingly called, was born March 7, 1951 to the union of Jean Holmes Abbott and Reverend Joseph Abbott. He was baptized and united with Saint Joseph Catholic Church, where he served as an altar server. He received his education attending St. Joseph's Grammar School and Junior High School. He was an avid sportsman playing little league baseball, basketball, and football for the Saint Joseph Knights. He completed his high school education at the North Carolina Military Academy and attended the University of Florida on a football scholarship. His journey lead him on the path of service for his country, where he served in the U.S. Army.His memory will always be cherished by a loving and devoted mother, Jean Holmes Abbott; father, Reverend Joseph Abbott; daughter, Brandie Jean Abbott, Houston, TX; sister, Rita Abbott Jones; four brothers, David Abbott, Augustine (Lynda) Abbott, Charles (LaVada) Abbott, and Francis Abbott, Clearwater, FL; aunts, Anner Mae (Robert Jr.) Porter, Oakland, CA, June (Bill) Reeves; his favorite nephews, nieces, numerous cousins and close friends.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Patrick Foley officiating. Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery. Visitation will be at Benboe Funeral Home from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.Benboe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
