ABBOTT Dr. Joseph A., a noted Cardiologist, passed away with his family by his side, at home in San Francisco, CA, on November 25, 2007. He was 74. Joe was born on August 9, 1933 to Joseph and Alice (Hughes) Abbott in Paterson, New Jersey. His wide-ranging intellect and deep faith were nurtured by his Jesuit schooling at St. Peter's Prep and St. Peter's College in Jersey City, NJ, and Georgetown Univer-sity School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. For most of his career, Joe was Professor of Medicine at University of California, San Francisco. In his retirement, he implemented public access for disabled people in Plumas County, Calif., and received the Sierra Club Yahi Group's 2006 Outstanding Achievement award for his environmental activism. Joe will be remembered for his humor and common touch, as well as his integrity and ten-acity.
