Pastor Joseph AbbottOn July 4, 2012, our beloved Pastor Joseph Abbott, Sr. was called from his earthly home from labor to rest.Pastor Joseph Abbott was born in Fairfield, Alabama. He was the tenth child of David and Maude Abbott. He attended public school in Alabama. After serving in the Military, he began residing in Pensacola, Florida in 1947.Pastor Joseph Abbott joined New Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of the Late Rev. Roberts. The Lord later lead him to lead the flock at Pilgrim Baptist Church where he was faithful to and touched many lives through God's word. He later was called to Ensley Missionary Baptist Church were he remained a loyal and faithful Pastor until the Lord called him home.He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, four sisters and one son.He leaves to mourn his loving and faithful wife, Sis. Mary Abbott; two daughters, LaTara S. (Michael) Travis and Mary Jo (Joseph) Hedrick; a son, Jashawn Abbott; and two granddaughters, LaDaijah Hedrick and London Travis. Four children from a previous marriage, Augustus (Linda), Charles (LaVeda), David Abbott, Francis Abbott; and seven grandchildren. He also has five brothers-in-laws, seven sisters-in-law and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.A wake will be held Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 10am followed by funeral services at Ensley Baptist Church at 11am with a wake one hour prior.
