REGAN John W. Regan of Lady Lake, Fla., (The Villages), died on Monday, February 23, 2004, at LRMC Hospital in Leesburg, after a sudden illness. A native of Shelton, Mr. Regan worked for B.F. Goodrich for many years and retired from Philips Medical in 1989 before moving to Florida. He was honorably discharged from the Army and was a member of the VFW. Mr. Regan worked for the Villages in the Sales Office Maintenance Department and later for Ultimate Contract Cleaning until the time of his illness. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Mongillo Regan, to whom he was married to for 52 years. Other survivors include daughters, Charlene Downes (Craig Ramsey) of North Branford, and Davene (Fran) O'Neill of Shelton; in addition to five grandchildren, Erin and Kevin O'Neill, Gerard and Christopher Downes and Deirdre Ramsey; a sister, Alice Natowich (Andrew) of Vermont; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Regan; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, D. Carroll and Alice Cribbins Regan; and siblings, Mary Oates, Regina McCarthy, James P. Regan Sr., Rita Nowakowski and Carol McClellan. A Mass was celebrated at St. Timothy's in Florida on March 2, 2004. Connecticut services and burial will be at a later date. The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
