Mr. John J. Kearney 83, beloved husband of Linda M. (Anderson) Kearney, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Beverly, he was the son of the late Patrick and Minnie (Robinson) Kearney. He received his education in the Beverly school system and graduated from Fisher Junior College. An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Navy. Mr. Kearney had been employed for many years as a computer operator for the former Dennison Manufacturing Corporation in Framingham until the time of his retirement. Prior to that he had worked at Carters Inc. in Cambridge. A lifelong resident of the City of Beverly, he was a member of the Italian Community Club, the American Legion Herman A. Spear Post #331 and the Elks BPOE #1309 all of Beverly. Mr. Kearney enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle who will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife, with whom he shared twenty five years of marriage, he is survived by his six children, Pat Freni of Beverly, Jack Kearney and wife, Sarah of Manchester, Jane Murphy and husband, Jim of Bowdin, ME, Steven Kearney and wife, Michelle of Cypress, TX, Scott Kearney and wife, Tracie of Bowdin, ME and Jean Wilson and husband, Rick of Beverly, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his mother-in-law, Mabel Anderson of Beverly, four sisters-in-law, Judy Breslin and husband, Gerry of Columbia, IL, Carol Edwards and husband, Barry of Seabrook, NH, Kathy Fielding and husband, Frank of Beverly and Nancy Roberts of Beverly, a brother-in-law, Paul Anderson and wife, Maureen of Beverly, many nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Robert and Paul Kearney and May Mulligan and brother-in-law of the late Debbie Anderson and Paul Roberts. His visiting hours will be held in the Campbell | Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly (North Beverly location) Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. Relatives and friends invited to attend. His funeral service and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Johns memory to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 35 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923 or the Beverly Hospital, 85 Herrick St., Beverly, MA 01915.
